LAFFECT

In Laboratory NT2 Montreal
Summer 2011

This work has been created for the Web, where a virtual psychogeography takes place darchive space par excellence: the Internet is a place of infinite memory. I wish to present in counterpoint to this web-work, a kinetic installation forms column joints dengrenages, clocks, sounds and of images. These two works offer a translation of the principles of psychogeography and drift of Guy Debord, founder of linternational Situationist. Here is the presentation of the oeuvre proposed web for a home lab NT2.

Psychogeography "psychogeography is defined in the first edition of the Situationist International" Study of the precise effects of geographical environment, consciously organized or not, acting directly on the emotional behavior of individuals " . The Situationists in Paris in the 1960s ventured into the streets of the city in order to be moved - be inspired tremendously by walking through the streets of the ordinary city - and while they sometimes resort to assistance from outside sources (alcohol or drugs), they could just as easily be moved by the city itself. The thrill you feel when you see the silhouette of your city from an unexpected angle, the sudden sense of intimacy you get when you climb into a hidden tunnel in your area, the excitement and anxiety that you seize when you stumble into an unknown area of the city you thought you knew - all times are beloved by Psychogeographers and relevant to their theory. It is inevitable that every human sidentifie to its environment. Places govern our identity and our way of thinking. Of course, these places "regular" become places of memory. In town, over time, these locations didentification were adapted to the evolution of the world, to contemporary reality. For these modulations in time, we could speak here of places of memory even transmuted and transfigured. So there was transformation dune item entered. For my project, I would redesign and reissue old maps. I wish to emphasize the memory of places, dunes city, revisiting the images and texts darchives. The user can then wander the virtual today's Montreal dhier and to discover new emotions.

Lété During 2010, for the creation of my work in Chillwind lhippocampe, jai made several searches in archival centers of the City of Montreal and the site of the National Archives. Cest to jai discovered that when a large number of old maps of the City. These documents were particularly attracted my attention.

At dune ugly "animation" programmed modulations darchives and current maps will be superimposed and juxtaposed. This "animation" unveil randomly progression and / or regression of the city. Upon entering the site of the oeuvre, the user may drift into the "animation" to see places circumscribed both in space physics. Sometimes, pictures of places darchives will be revisited, now of selected texts from the bank darchives Laboratory NT2/centre Figura will be offered (I leave here the freedom to choose another time if the texts are presented as sound or literary). I want to find texts and images that focus on selected locations on maps in a poetic way of Debord's psychogeography. At that time, the idea of hosting or even geography augmented reality takes place, either by superimposing virtual documents darchives and metamorphosis of discernment sites.

Jalimenterai perceptions of the real world by an imaginary building, in this instance, by an increase of that affects the population of these places, or by the diversion of maps and images that seem familiar darchives by lappropriation literature of your database that we will deal with addictions, of acclimatization and acculturation.
